Biodegradable RESOMER® medical polymers are intended for parenteral applications. Peptidic active ingredients, for example, which are often broken down in the gastrointestinal tract, are embedded in the polymers, injected subcutaneously, and released over several weeks or months. 

The second major application of RESOMER® polymers is in medical devices such as plates, screws, and nails that decompose in the body and therefore don’t have to be removed in a follow-up surgery.
